The Ballad of Jack and Rose is a 2005 drama film written and directed by Rebecca Miller, and starring her husband Daniel Day-Lewis; it also stars Camilla Belle, Catherine Keener, Paul Dano, Ryan McDonald, Jason Lee, Jena Malone, Susanna Thompson and Beau Bridges. From mohenjodaro to modern India, construction continues to be the common foundation of growth and civilisation. Yet, construction workers, over 20 milion in number , continue to eke out a miserable living where even the basic necessities for a dignified existence are denied to them. In 1985 a unique process was begun by various organisations of construction workers : the drafting a comprehensve legislation on construction work. Workers from all over Indiam with help from legal experts, paricipated in the drafing of a bill that could ensure social justice to construction workers. But the bill was never passed. TGhe filmlooks at the condition of the consturction worker vis a vis the consturction industry builders organistons and the government , and examines the logic for the bill and why it was never implemented.
