Metapher, Kontext und Kognition Metaphern zwischen Indexikalit�t und �hnlichkeit

In dieser Arbeit wird ein Ansatz zur Beschreibung von Metaphern entwickelt. Metaphorische Interpretation liegen gem�� diesem dann vor, wenn Ausdr�cke bestimmte, in dieser Arbeit spezifizierte, linguistische Eigenschaften besitzen und zugleich auf der Basis von �hnlichkeits�berlegungen interpretiert werden. Mit diesem Ansatz sollen auch aufschlussreiche Beitr�ge f�r das Verst�ndnis von figurativer Sprache im Allgemeinen, sowie dem Wechselverh�ltnis zwischen Semantik und Pragmatik geliefert werden.

In this book, the author develops a theory of metaphors according to which metaphorical interpretations result from an interaction between certain linguistic properties of expressions and similarity-based processes of interpretation. Besides avoiding problems of other available theories of metaphor, his approach also provides valuable insights about other tropes such as irony or metonymy as well as about the relationship between semantics and pragmatics.
