Summary: This special issue of Key Engineering Materials contains selected refereed papers presented at the Seventh International Conference on Advanced Computational Engineering and Experimenting (ACE-X 2013) held at NH Ribera del Manzanares (Madrid), Spain during the period 1st - 4th July, 2013. The goal of the conference was to provide a unique opportunity to exchange information, to present the latest results as well as to review the relevant issues on contemporary research in mechanical engineering. Young scientists were especially encouraged to attend the conference and to establish international networks with well-known scientists. Among topics of the 10 selected and peer-reviewed papers are identifying and predicting surface topography with regard to variable conditions of the cold rolling process, identifying damage in beams using experimental data, the resistance to electrochemical corrosion of extruded magnesium alloy AX61, the influence of strontium on the microstructure of cast magnesium alloys containing aluminum and calcium, and the effect of tolerance in the fitting of rivets in the holes of double-lap joints subjected to uni-axial tension. -- Computational physics-- Materials science-- Mechanical engineering.
