After World War I, membership in the League of Nations represented an important step for the British Dominions on the road to foreign policy independence. The internationalism of the League of Nations was not a purely political phenomenon, but also had a social dimension. In particular, the Geneva based Secretariat of the League of Nations evolved into a hub of liberal internationalism. Benjamin Auberer examines these networks by investigating the careers of five employees of the League of Nations from Australia and New Zealand and thus contributes to a global history of the League of Nations and its bureaucracy.

Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg stellte die Mitgliedschaft im V�lkerbund f�r die britischen Dominions einen wichtigen Schritt auf dem Weg in die au�enpolitische Unabh�ngigkeit dar. Dabei war der Internationalismus des V�lkerbunds kein rein politisches Ph�nomen, sondern besa� auch eine soziale Dimension. Insbesondere das in Genf angesiedelte V�lkerbundsekretariat entwickelte sich schnell zu einem Knotenpunkt des liberalen Internationalismus. Benjamin Auberer untersucht dieses Beziehungsgeflecht am Beispiel der Karriereverl�ufe von f�nf australischen und neuseel�ndischen Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern des V�lkerbundsekretariats und tr�gt so zu einer Globalgeschichte des V�lkerbunds und seiner B�rokratie bei.
