La s�curit� est un sujet aussi central que largement inexplor� des guerres de Religion fran�aises. Pour la premi�re fois, elle est analys�e ici de mani�re syst�matique et en tenant compte des mod�les d'interpr�tation contemporains. Christian Wenzel retrace le vaste d�bat sur la s�curit� qui a consid�rablement marqu� les conflits entre 1557 et 1589. Son �tude non seulement ouvre une nouvelle perspective sur les �v�nements et processus centraux, mais elle contribue, gr�ce au concept de � communication historique sur la s�curit� � d�velopp� ici, � la recherche historique sur la s�curit� et montre la complexit� des concepts de s�curit� de l'�poque moderne Sicherheit - ein f�r die franz�sischen Religionskriege ebenso zentrales wie noch weitgehend unerforschtes Thema. Christian Wenzel analysiert Vorstellungen von Sicherheit sowie ihre Funktion in den franz�sischen Religionskriegen erstmals systematisch und mit Blick auf zeitgen�ssische Deutungsmuster. Anschaulich zeichnet die Studie eine breite Sicherheitsdebatte nach, die die Konflikte zwischen 1557 und 1589 ma�geblich pr�gte. Das erm�glicht nicht nur eine neue Perspektive auf zentrale Ereignisse und Prozesse, sondern leistet mit dem hier entwickelten Konzept der �historischen Sicherheitskommunikation� auch einen Beitrag zur historischen Sicherheitsforschung und zeigt die Vielschichtigkeit fr�hneuzeitlicher Sicherheitsvorstellungen.

Security - a category that is as important as neglected when it comes to the French Wars of Religion in the 16th century. Christian Wenzel systematically traces imaginations of security as well as their function in the French Wars of Religion for the first time, with a close focus on the perspective of the historical actors. The present study vividly recounts a broad security debate which influenced the conflicts between 1557 and 1589 to a significant degree. Thereby, the study enables not only new perspectives on pivotal junctions and processes; by introducing "Historical Security Communication" as a heuristic approach, it also contributes to Historical Security Studies and casts a light on the complexity of early modern semantics of security.
