Review from Book News Inc.: The papers collected here report on experimental work on the operation, technology, and diagnostics of operational states of machines and manufacturing systems, which was performed by the Technical University of Kosice's Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies in conjunction with private firms. In addition to the operation and diagnostics of operational states, the papers deal with tribological diagnostics and vibro-diagnostics of machining, casting, pressure die casting, laser cutting, and water jet cutting, as well as regulation and control of technological parameters of manufacturing and thermal systems. Some specific subjects covered include the use of intelligent elements in vibration diagnostics of CNC machines, microhardness of coatings created by anodic oxidation of aluminum, and operation of a water jet system in a sandstone quarry. The book includes b & w photos, process diagrams, and equipment illustrations.
