Forfatterne i denne boka argumenterer for at definisjonen av begrepet fordommer som opptrer i den offentlige samtalen og i politiske kontekster, bør utvides. Fordommer befinner seg på ulike nivåer i samfunnet og bunner i komplekse forhold vedrørende makt, avmakt, motmakt, identitet, språk, kultur og historieforståelse. For å kunne utarbeide gode og effektive strategier for å motarbeide fordommer trengs det inngående kunnskap om hva fordommer er innenfor ulike akademiske felt, og hvorfor og hvordan de oppstår. For å fange inn kompleksiteten i fordomsbegrepet er boka sammensatt av bidrag fra mange forskjellige disipliner og teoritradisjoner. I bokas kapitler legges det vekt på konstruksjoner, dimensjoner, praksiser og manifestasjoner av fordommer, samt hvilke handlinger som trengs for å kunne motarbeide fordommer. |
