La première crise énergétique de 1974 a mis en lumière un sujet qui n'aura cessé d'être un point chaud de l'actualité depuis : le pétrole. Régulièrement depuis 35 ans, la crise pétrolière est au coeur des débats. Elle semble à la fois provoquer des changements profonds (programme électronucléaire, campagnes d'économie des énergies, chantiers d'énergies alternatives) et paraître comme insignifiante ou en décalage avec le réel, tant le pétrole tient une place toujours plus importante (augmentation du parc automobile à essence ou gasoil, utilisation tous azimuts des dérivés du pétrole) et semble ne pas manquer... Pourtant la crise est là, inéluctable, durable et dont le paroxysme est très proche, bien que masqué par la récente récession économique. Nous n'avons plus que 5 à 10 ans environ pour nous préparer activement et anticiper ses effets : quoi qu'il arrive, les quantités disponibles vont très bientôt diminuer, et ce constamment ; il en sera de même pour le gaz, quelques années plus tard. Ce livre d'actualité à la fois scientifique et technique, décrit et évalue les principales technologies utilisables pour remplacer pétrole et gaz, tout en montrant combien la plupart seront longues à mettre en place, n'étant pas encore validées et socialement acceptées. Dans ces conditions, l'antienne des économies d'énergie est plus que d'actualité, pour nous aider à retarder les échéances et faire la jointure avec de nouveaux modèles énergétiques. Deux secteurs fondamentaux sont concernés : le bâtiment et les transports. Il est urgent de voir la conscience des citoyens-consommateurs se modifier radicalement, au risque de connaître pour des zones comme l'Europe des 27, une crise énergétique et économique sans précédent... |
