The Women Betrayed is a story based on the tribal regions of Jharkhand and Bengal. In the tribal regions of Bihar and Bengal, the people pushed to the wall by the development policies of India, take recourse to the all pervasive age old belief, that, all miseries are caused by evil spirits invoked by the witches, and helpless women become easy targets. Land hunger is the most common reason, which turns families against each other. Born in 1963, Sehjo is an independent filmmaker working on issues of socio-political concern since 1987. She won the special jury award in Tokyo national award for best film on social issues.
