This is an inspir'1ng film, the story of Hari {Sanjeev Kumar) and Arti (Jaya Bhaduri), whose world is silent, soundless but not soulless. Though deaf and dumb they are able to communicate their feelings for each other and get married. Working as a newspaper delivery boy. Hari, by sheer din! of elfori and honesty rises to become an offieer in a printing press. Hari and Arli have already los!one chlld to an accident, because of their handicap. When Artl becomes pregnant again, and delivers a norma! child, a son, their joy knows no bounds. Their son grows up to a strapping, handsome lad with the parents doting on him. But their "Koshish" (attempt) to be norma! is shallered when their son (Amit) callously refuses to many a girl because she is deaf and dumb. Hari and Arti are dislressed beyond end by his failure to pass the test of being their dutifulson. After much soul searching,Amlt realizes his shortcoming and to make amends, agrees to marry the girl. Hari and Arti succeed in building a family, their own, a family that is wordless, but not meaningless.
