In " I Want to live"/ the filmmaker, Sunil Gupta and HIV/ AIDS and the law team from HRLN, travel across India, interviewing in accessing healthcare services and treatment for HIV and AIDs over the last decade. From small districts of West Bengal to Rajasthan and Delhi to Tamil Nadu, ordinary people and experts from various backgrounds with experiences of working on a variety of HIV and/or AIDS programmes, talk about their day to day battles with the virus, problems with accessing treatment for women and children, stigma and discrimination, and their passionate work in the movement. Leaders of the networks for positive people througout India speak of their efforts towards establishing their rights to health, coming together to use the constitution of india and the courts to further access to tratment, their frustration with government policy and their desire for change. Ultimately, " I want to live" is the moving story of people's extraordinary resilience in the face of indifference from the government. |
